Restore Iron. Support Energy. Feel Like Yourself Again.
Low iron can affect far more than your lab results. It can leave you feeling exhausted, weak, short of breath, lightheaded, cold, foggy, or unable to recover the way your body should.
At The Wellness Lounge, we approach iron restoration differently. Rather than flooding the body with large amounts of iron all at once, we use a gradual, physiology-based approach designed to support how the body actually utilizes iron.
Our Venofer program is a structured 6-week protocol designed to help patients improve iron status while supporting tolerance, utilization, and long-term restoration.
What is Venofer?
Venofer, also known as iron sucrose, is an intravenous iron medication used to help replenish iron stores and support healthy red blood cell production. Venofer is FDA-indicated for iron deficiency anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease, and IV iron is also commonly used in clinical settings when a provider determines iron repletion is medically appropriate.
Symptoms of Low Iron
Fatigue
Weakness
Shortness of breath with activity
Dizziness or lightheadedness
Cold hands and feet
Headaches
Brain fog
Rapid heartbeat
Hair shedding
Restless legs
Poor exercise tolerance
Feeling depleted after pregnancy, heavy periods, or illness
Symptoms of Low Iron
Venofer may be appropriate for patients with labs showing low iron, low ferritin, or iron deficiency anemia, especially if they:
Do not tolerate oral iron
Have not improved with oral iron
Have heavy menstrual cycles
Are postpartum or recovering from blood loss
Have digestive issues that affect absorption
Have chronic inflammation or complex health concerns
Need faster, provider-guided iron repletion
Are anemic during pregnancy
Iron Restoration Program
Phase 1: Trace Mineral Support (Weeks 1-2)
The program begins with two of our trace mineral support protocol before introducing Venofer.
Iron does not function independently in the body. Proper iron transport, storage, oxygen delivery, and red blood cell production rely on multiple nutrient cofactors and physiologic systems working together. Trace minerals and supportive nutrients play important roles in iron metabolism, mitochondrial function, and cellular adaptation.
By beginning with foundational support first, we aim to help ensure the body has the resources needed to better utilize iron before increasing iron exposure.
Prior to beginning your Venofer infusions we need to see your TIBC (ferritin, serum iron, etc.) and CBC. If you’ve had your labs run recently, bring them in with you and we’ll add them to your file. Based on your labs will determine your customized protocol to get you to optimal levels.
Phase 2: Individualized Protocol
At The Wellness Lounge, our Venofer (iron sucrose) programs are individualized based on each patient's laboratory findings, clinical presentation, symptoms, medical history, and provider assessment. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, our providers evaluate factors such as ferritin, hemoglobin, iron saturation, total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), symptom severity, and underlying contributors to iron deficiency to determine the most appropriate treatment plan. Dosing, frequency, and total iron replacement are carefully tailored to each patient, allowing us to address iron deficiency safely and effectively while supporting optimal energy, recovery, cognitive function, and overall wellness. All Venofer protocols are administered at the discretion of the treating provider following a comprehensive review of the patient's health status and treatment goals.
Follow-Up Labs
Approximately 10 weeks after beginning the program, we repeat labs to assess response and determine next steps.
Our standard follow-up iron panel costs $12.86 through our preferred lab ordering system.
This allows providers to evaluate how the body is responding and determine whether additional support, maintenance, or further investigation is appropriate.
Our Philosophy
At The Wellness Lounge, we believe iron restoration should be thoughtful, individualized, and guided by physiology.
We are not simply chasing lab numbers. We are working to understand why the body became depleted in the first place and how to support meaningful recovery safely and strategically.
We also work with local providers for their specific protocols. We believe it’s vital for you to have healthy Ferritin levels in order to function, so we are committed to working with your provider to get you to optimal levels.
Ferritin Support Education Guide.
We also provide patients with an educational guide for improving ferritin levels and supporting healthy iron status naturally.
The guide discusses supportive lifestyle, nutrition, and physiologic factors that may influence iron storage and utilization. We view Venofer as one tool within a larger strategy to help support the body, rather than a standalone solution.
